Arcade Game The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2

What made it a whole lot worse: the very first arcade game was launched around the same time, giving gamers the exact game play these were expecting. So it makes sense that for that follow-up they would Port Said game and also fulfills everybody’s wishes.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: the Arcade Game was released in 1990 towards the delight of gamers everywhere. A beat em up like Final Fight and also Double Dragon, the arcade game was everything we expected and more, featuring an endless supply of cameos from the cartoon, 2 player co-op along with your choice of Turtle, to each one with subtle differences. I can remember spending illegal levels of money playing the game each week with friends and strangers alike as I was fully entrenched in Turtle mania. The NES port, while not arcade perfect is well done and succeeded in washing away any lingering memories the very first game had left.

You fight an endless way to obtain Foot Soldiers and other nemeses from the Ninja Turtles fiction when you make towards you through each of the levels as your favorite Turtle. The arcade game ended up being better able to depict the differences between each character, with Donatello slow merely powerful with insane range, Leonardo perfectly in the middle, etc. The home port makes all of the characters practically all the same with the only thing of note being their bandana color and also signature weapon. Besides the enemies you face the world is plagued by objects you are able to use to your advantage, such as fire hydrants, street signs, traffic cones, etc. Normally fighting exactly the same enemies over and over would quickly become boring merely you will find enough varieties of Foot Soldier that you never feel like you are going through the motions, together with each type forcing you to switch up your tactics. The bosses are exactly what you would expect: powerful, cheap, and true to the cartoon. In every way the overall game was a treat for the fans.

Some changes had to be made to fit the game into the limits of the NES. The 4 player coop is missing, limiting you to 2 players. Thank god in my opinion, I might hate to find out what the game would look like when they even tried. The levels have undergone surgery, removing some elements and also extending their own length for a lasting experience. Obviously the particular graphics and also voices never have come over fully intact, but the game continues to be a very nice approximation of the arcade game. Most especially this is a drastic leap in quality over it has the predecessor. I really miss the speech through the arcade game; even though it would be a bit sparse it added to the general atmosphere. What makes up for these changes would be the 2 original levels specifically made for this port. Both are excellent and also match the standard from the rest of the game and in my opinion even exceed it as they were designed specifically for the NES along with excellent graphics and unique challenges that would have fit in perfectly with the arcade game. The arcade game would be a bit challenging which usually comes as no real surprise since it was created to suck quarters. The home port evens the odds by providing more lives when you begin, limited continues, and additional lives for each 200 points scored. While it is still taxing this remains manageable.

So in the end would I recommend it? At this time, no. Back in the day when the thought of proudly owning the arcade cabinet was ludicrous this particular home port was everything you could ask for. Now you can buy a great arcade perfect port with regard to numerous different download services, and cheaply too. The only thing on offer listed here are the original stages and as good as they are they aren’t well worth the price of admission. That is not to say it isn’t worth playing, just that when you really feel like playing the arcade game the option is there. Looking for more games to play you can try this one the
