Would you read David Eddings Belgariad series first or the two prequels?

I have the two prequels and the entire Belgariad/Malorean Series. I’m trying to decide which I should read first. I know that the Belgariad was written first and then the Malorean but I just don’t know if the prequels would give a beneficial backstory or just create confusion. Those of you who have read both, what would you recomend?

Belgariad first, definitely. Reading the prequels first wouldn’t give you any special insight into the first series, but it would utterly ruin the suspense and spoil the plot.
