How do I dye my hair unnatural color with streaks?

I want to dye my hair purple with pink streaks, and no I will not go to a salon, because I already bought the dye and I need it done by tomorrow. I heard that there was some way to do it with foil or something, but can someone explain that to me? Are you supposed to dye the streaks, wrap them in foil, then dye the rest of your hair, or what?

Well, first thing is first, AFTER you die your hair, you can’t use shampoo more then twice a week, or your streaks will start to blur in with the rest of your color. AND the more sun your hair gets, the longer the color last!
