With Match Attax cards, why do I get so many duplicates?
Match Attax is a Premier League football Trading Card game, and there are two versions. The normal version, which has 465 cards, and the extra version, which has 160 cards.
However, Match Attax has now finished for the 2010-11 season. In the normal version, I have about 400 unique cards, but around twice as many duplicates. Also, the extra version is even worse. In this version I have about 120 unique cards, but around FOUR TIMES as many duplicates.
I know that Topps distribute fewer special cards (e.g. Showboats, Man of the Match etc.), but even so, there are some Base Cards which are also missing from my collection, as well as the special cards.
So why is it that Match Attax collectors end up with so many duplicate cards? Is it to do with the probability of having a unique card once your collection is nearly complete? Or do Topps deliberately put the same cards in different packets, in order to make us buy more packets?
it’s designed to make people buy more which makes collecting cards/sticker albums annoying and expensive. A quick look on google might be worth a try as there might be trading sites so at least you can swap and make some cash out of the spares.
